How it works
Three steps, in real time, inside your phone.
- Listen
The microphone captures the raw sound, split into three bands: kick, snare, hi-hat.
- Analyse
Attacks are measured 90 times per second. The algorithm finds the tempo, where the beats fall and the first beat of every bar.
- Anticipate
The next beat is predicted: the light fires early to make up for latency and lands right on the kick.

Installation
Install the app in 20 seconds
No app store needed: Strobodance installs straight from the website and opens full screen, like a real app. All you need is a free account.
- Open strobodance.com in Safari.
- Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up).
- Choose “Add to Home Screen”, then Add.
- Open Strobodance from your home screen, sign in and allow the microphone.
On iPhone, Apple doesn't yet let web apps control the flash, so the light comes from the screen. Flash support will come with the official app.
- Open strobodance.com in Chrome.
- Tap Install below, or the ⋮ menu then “Install app”.
- Open Strobodance, sign in, allow the microphone and the camera for the flash.
- Open strobodance.com in Chrome or Edge.
- Click the Install icon in the address bar, or the button below.
- Tip: paste a YouTube link into the app and pick the “Tab” source. Perfect analysis, no microphone needed.

FAQ
What people ask us
Does it work with any music?
Yes, from 70 to 200 BPM: pop, disco, rock, funk, hip-hop, reggaeton, house, techno, drum & bass… The clearer the beat, the faster it locks (3 to 4 seconds).
Does the flash work on iPhone?
Not yet: Safari doesn't give web apps access to the torch. The screen takes over until the official app is out. On Android (Chrome), the flash works.
What if it loses the beat?
The analysis adapts to the volume. If needed, use Tap tempo: four taps in time and the app locks back on.
Is my audio sent anywhere?
No. Everything is computed on your phone: no sound is recorded or sent. Your account only holds your nickname, your email and your encrypted password. No trackers.

Strobe lights can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Don't use Strobodance if you or anyone present is affected, don't shine the light into people's eyes and never use it while driving. A 3-flashes-per-second limiter is on by default.
